The Rome Sentinel introduces Roxen Editorial Portal
The Rome Sentinel, a local daily newspaper of Oneida County, NY, now introduces Roxen Editorial Portal. The Rome Sentinel, with a circulation of more than 12.500 copies, is one of the oldest family owned newspapers in the US. Tracing its origins back to 1821, the newspaper went daily in 1882 and has been run by the same family for six generations and 150 years.
The Rome Sentinel’s move to Roxen Editorial Portal followed a thorough evaluation of available editorial systems. Focus was on finding a modern, flexible and scalable system that would help transform the newspaper’s editorial process and could be adapted to future needs including all digital channels.
- Roxen’s editorial system is a time and money saver for us. It significantly improves staff efficiency creating content for print and online simultaneously. The first truly web based editorial system with built in InDesign functionality ensures ease of use and flexibility for our staff, says Stephen B. Waters, Publisher of The Rome Sentinel.
- We are very proud to add The Rome Sentinel to our list of more than 100 publications in the US using Roxen’s editorial tools. We are helping mid-sized, local newspapers push their positions ahead by transforming editorial processes and adding new technology. For many 15-60 seat newsrooms, seamless multichannel publishing, full process overview and the elimination of tedious manual work is the key to building new, sustainable positions in a rapidly changing marketplace. We look forward to supporting also The Rome Sentinel. With their forward-looking and sensible view on new technology and their persistent focus on creating relevant local content Roxen Editorial Portal should be a perfect match, says Per Östlund, CEO of Roxen.
