Features

Roxen Editorial Portal offers a whole newspaper production environment in a browser near you. What can really be expected from a browser-based system?

Well, everything!

Totally web-based

Modern web standards (AJAX) make the user interface as fast and flexible as any stand-alone application. Even short commands work exactly as you are used to. No client software needed.

Full edition overview

Roxen Editorial Portal offers a unique overview in real time on all you need to know about your production flow. Regardless of how many pages a newspaper or magazine includes, how many editions or titles that have to be checked, Roxen Editorial Portal displays the progress of the pages in production as well as the actual production status.

Layout-Driven Editing

With Roxen Editorial Portal's write to fit functionality you can preview story templates in the web browser while writing. Roxen Editorial Portal displays a complete preview in the browser including images, paragraph and character styles as well as inline and column breaks. Any last-minute changes in the subsequent layout process will be brought back to the story so you know exactly what went into the printed copy. You can also work with full-page templates or even issue templates to eliminate tedious, repetitive layout work and shift your focus to the things that matter.

Tablets and other devices

Be prepared for new innovative devices such as the iPad. Our hybrid reader solution gives you the benefits of a native application, like App Store presence and hardware access, as well as the strenghts of web technology to control article layout. Eliminate tedious manual work and bring your news effortlessly to all channels.

Adobe InDesign Integration

Roxen Editorial Portal is seamlessly integrated with Adobe InDesign. A plugin and an Adobe InDesign Server handles the two-way communication between the Roxen Editorial Portal and your page layout tool. Editorial Portal extracts page and story previews as well as preflight information, story overflow status etc. from your layout files and displays all the information you need to monitor production status straight through your web browser.

Search

In Roxen Editorial Portal all accessible internal and external archives and information sources can be linked into the normal workflow. With the simplified user interface, any user can search for background information and control available facts.

Standard tools for image processing

Roxen Editorial Portal uses available standard applications like Adobe Photoshop and/or Fotoware ColorFactory for image processing when the built-in features are not enough.

Feed imports

Roxen Editorial Portal allows you to import external feeds from any source (Reuters, TT, AFP, AP, Bloomberg, e-mails, Word documents etc.). As with the Roxen Editorial Portal in general, import is handled through an intelligent XML implementation which opens up great possibilities.

Archive

All files, stories and editions are stored and versioned in Roxen Editorial Portal. This means that all previously saved items are easily found by browsing your categories or through Search.

Mac/Windows/Unix/Linux

Roxen Editorial Portal works regardless of hardware or operating system platforms. A web browser and an Internet connection is all that is needed to use the system. Use the platform of your choice – even combinations of Mac, Windows, Unix and Linux will do.

All you need is a browser

Using a Mac OS X or Windows based browser, the full power of Roxen Editorial Portal is at your fingertips. The server software runs on Mac OS X, Windows, Linux and a wide range of Unix systems.
